Backup Your Mail Data by Using Google Vault

Vault is an information administration and eDiscovery tool for Google Workspace. With Vault, you can retain, hold, search, and export users' Google Workspace data. You can use Vault for the following data:

1. Gmail messages

2. Drive files

3. Google Chat Messages (history on)

4. Google Meet recordings and related chat, Q&A, and poll logs

5. Google group messaging

6. Google Voice for Google Workspaces text messages, voicemails and their transcripts, and call logs

7. New Google Sites

8. Classic Hangouts Messages (history is on)

How license works? 

If your version includes Vault, all users in your organization are automatically assigned a Vault license.

If Vault is available as an add-on license, you can purchase a Vault license for some or all users in your organization. Only users who have Vault licenses assigned are covered by Vault. Learn more about how to get around Google Vault.

If you delete a user or required license, their data may be irreversibly purged and will no longer be available to Vault.
