Data Migration Using GSMME Tool

Data Migration Using GSMME Tool

1. Download the GSMME tool from the below link

  Link :- https://tools.google.com/dlpage/exchangemigration

2. Choose last option “Specify a folder with PST files”

3. Create PST and folder structure

a) Prepare a folder structure for PST migration If you want to migrate PST files, first set a folder structure to accommodate those files.

Note: GSMME cannot migrate password-protected PST files. Disable password protection before you try to migrate, or the migration will fail.

Set a top-level folder. Within that top-level folder, create a personal folder for each user whose PST files you want to migrate. Keep PST files inside these separate folders. For example: PST (top-level folder), user1@surajb.com (personal folder), <user1@amat.com .pst (PST file to migrate).

b) Name different folders based on the primary email address configured in the source mail system. (See Create CSV Files for Users and Calendar Resources). For example, if your username takes a file: user1@surajb user2@surajb.com Name your personal folder: user1@surajb.com user2@surajb.com Read and write permissions on each individual PST file so that the utility Can write migration-related metadata to those files.

Control CSV File :: Create a CSV file for each group of users you want to migrate. If you plan to use multiple client machines,

you need a separate list for each client, and each list must have a unique set of users.

We recommend that you do not put more than 1000 users in a single CSV file.

The common structure of a user CSV file is the source user, the destination user.

Adding a space after the comma is optional. Examples: matt@alpm.com, mattwerner@alpm.com

You can remove the destination user if it is the same as the source user.

Depending on the type of server you are migrating from, there are some changes to this format.

For details on how to use and format a control CSV file, see Create a Control CSV File.

If you are also migrating calendar resources, you will need to add calendar resources

to the control CSV file, as well as create a calendar resource CSV file with a list of calendar resources that need to be migrated.

The format to add the calendar resources to the control CSV file is: Exchange-resources-Email.

4. Now upload the downloaded JSON key to GSMME tool.

5. Click on Next.

6. See the image below for the next procedure. Browse the user list in the "File of accounts to migrate".

7. Click On Next and wait for some time and start the migration.
